Another example of the FACT that the price of vinyl on Discogs has ZERO relevance to the quality of music contained on it.
MisterMax

The horn sample at the beginning is taken from "Telex - Moskow Disco"

Listen to Paul Johnson's "I Wonder Why" (from 1996's http://www.discogs.com/Paul-Johnson-Feel-The-Music/master/30966 ) and convince me that Fantom didn't rip it off for this track. (edited to fix link)

I'm aware that it's the same sample source - that's not the issue. Listen to the construction and then consider that those are releases that came out less than a year apart (the Paul Johnson one first), in an era when Chicago was heavily influencing the Paris scene.

Yea but Paul Johnson stole the disco loop off T-Connection At Midnight, that's what house DJ's and producers do.
Kata
same sample, bad looping, Pj just pass 2 beats! :/

noone can say for sure if he heard it from paul johnson, but chances are that he probably did.. and decided to do his own version.. he still produced a fantastic version! but yes original work? not really.. but most house music samples + evolves from other tracks in the exact same manner!

hahaha far from a 'one-hit wonder'! Fantom is/was Julien Jabre! You can hardly call him a 'one-hit wonder' can you?!

Sampler from T-Connection "At Midnight"

This is one of the GREATEST unknown French house tracks of all time, a true one-hit wonder, as the artist made this awesome track and was never heard from again. Daft Punk spun it in their 1997 Essential Mix on BBC Radio One, and DJ Falcon has recently been spinning it in his live sets. It's an instrumental synthesizer track with a very heavy phaser and a small vocal sample that sounds like "P-twede-Three!", and add in some funky horns, and you've got a calming track at it's original speed, and a really bouncy track when sped up. It's really great. The Etienne de Crecy minimix basically samples the track and turns it into continous loop, adds in a different beat and a vocal saying "Didja hear that?". You can mix it in nice with the original, and it's easier to beatmatch, but doesn't beat the original overall. The Prassay remix does more or less the same thing as the Etienne de Crecy remix, only with a different sample, and adds in even MORE phaser so that it really starts ducking big time. Overall, the remixes don't beat the original, but they're nice alternatives in DJ sets. And the Dierickx Ameublement Mix Par Scratch-Pet-Land remix is awful, it turns the great track into a really tinny with a terrible beat electro track. Absolute garbage.Overall an excellent track that few have heard of. If you love French House, or if you see it, pick it up! You won't be disappointed.
