The Correct Use of Soap is the third studio album by British post-punk band Magazine, released by Virgin Records in 1980. It contains some of Magazine's best-known and most popular songs, including the singles "A Song from Under the Floorboards" and "Sweetheart Contract" and their cover of Sly and the Family Stone's "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)". A different version of this album was released in Canada in 1980, by then distributor Polygram Records.

The album concludes on what is possibly Magazine's finest track 'A Song from Under the Floorboards' - where Devoto nails Dostoyevksy's 'Notes from the Underground' to a pop-song that nods toward Cockney Rebel's 'Make Me Smile' (listen to the backing vocals). The Correct Use of Soap' would be the last great Magazine-studio album- follow-up 'Magic, Murder & the Weather' is one of those. Correct Use of Soap Audio CD. Magazine.

This album is my 4th favourite album of Magazine. I like their first two more and also No Thyself, because The Correct Use Of Soap is too light for me sometimes, but the lyrics are great as always, like in "Model Worker" for example. Still one of my top 10 post-punk bands. Digging: Stendeck - Sonnambula. Staff & Contributors // Site Forum // Contact us.
