Fading Lines' is the second single & title track from Amber Arcades forthcoming album. com/records/20. ing-lines/. Fading Lines Heavenly Recordings.

Amber Arcades makes wistful, very pretty dream pop music that is a lot more dreamy than it is poppy. Especially for a debut album, the sound is impressively focused and cohesive, and Amber Arcades display some solid songwriting chops. The album does sort of seem to float away on its own lightweight-ness, however, and the melodies don't stick as much as you'd hope.

Working under the name Amber Arcades, Dutch singer/songwriter Annelotte de Graaf went from being a teenager dreaming of someday recording an album to later working with an all-star indie rock cast in Brooklyn on 2016s shoegaze pop album Fading Lines, then following it with the burnished modern pop of 2018s European Heartbreak, which was recorded at Virginias highly regarded. Growing up in Utrecht, Holland, a teenaged Annelotte de Graaf began saving her money with an eye toward someday recording an album.

Over Fading Lines’ ten tunes, de Graaf proves herself to be a songwriter who understands not only how to balance her work/life balance, but the dark and light of her music. De Graaf is a different beast lyrically and musically to Molly Rankin and co. Whilst their wonderful debut was about the vagaries of the heart, Amber Arcades are more opaque. The words include musings on jetlag ( Fading Lines ) and idealistic architects ( Constant’s Dream ) and musically they have more in common with the way Stereolab mixed pop and Kraut Rock, where the vocals float over the top of deceptively intricate instrumentation. Fading Lines is proof that it’s worth pursuing your dreams, if you have the courage to do so.
