Got To Be Certain is the third single from Kylie Minogue's debut album "Kylie. The single was released on May 2, 1988 and was written & produced by Stock, Aitken and Waterman. Got to Be Certain" is a dance-pop song. "Got to Be Certain" was originally written for singer Mandy Smith, but it was scrapped and given to Kylie Minogue. It was released as the third single of her debut album "Kylie" in the spring of 1988 and topped the carts in Australia, Belgium and Finland. It also reached the top ten in France, Germany, South Africa, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. The music video for "Got To Be Certain" was directed by Chris Langman and filmed in April 1988 around Melbourne, Australia. Four different edits were made, combining shots of Kylie on a merry-go-round, in an artist's studio and dancing in a coffee-house. The most popular version is the one featuring scenes with the merry-go-round and Kylie on the roof top, as it is considered less cluttered and more simplistic than the other edits. The song became Kylie Minogue's second top five hit when it debuted at number fifteen on the singles chart before climbing the chart in the weeks that followed peaking at number two, remaining there for three weeks. It eventually sold 278,000 copies.
