Barbagallo is the eponymous side project of Julien Barbagallo, the French musician who plays drums in Tame Impala. He’s got a new album coming out this week-it’s called Grand Chien, and is out October 28 via Arista France. Grand Chien marks Barbagallo’s second LP under his own name; his solo debut Amor de Lonh was released in 2014. Barbagallo on writing his new album nomad-style, Tame Impala and singing in French. It’s not that easy to describe specifically the making of Grand Chien, because my writing is something that is continuously developing and there was no real break between Amor de Lohn and Grand Chien - it was simply a natural progression of the first. The method I use when writing music begins with chord progressions ideas that come to me anytime, anywhere.
