Jump To It was Aretha's third album through Arista Records after a long and mostly successful run at Atlantic. The title track, written by Luther Vandross and his songwriting partner Marcus Miller, was her biggest pop hit since "I'm In Love" peaked at in 1974. Vandross also produced the album, which was a dream gig for the popular R&B singer. He had told Rolling Stone, "I'd wrestle Bruno Sammartino for a chance to produce Aretha Franklin. Clive Davis, president of Arista, read the article and hooked Vandross up with Aretha.

But he's not a great songwriter, and great singers do their greatest work with great songs. Sometimes great singers don't even know what a great song is, which is why we get to hear Aretha perform artificial respiration on Sam Dee's "If She Don't Want Your Lovin'" and the Isleys' hoary "It's Your Thing.

Artist: Aretha Franklin. Album: Jump to It (1982). Jump, jump, jump to it (4x). Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah). My baby loves me. He told me that.
