Francesco Tristano Piano Duets Rami Khalifé - Pop Art flac album

Tristano leads the way with trad piano playing. Yet there are subtle digital elements woven in by the deft touches of producer, Murcof. It meant an electronic music fan would go, ‘Oh, there’s a piano playing, but I hear little digital jitters that catch my attention’. It really gave the tracks another level. This album opened so many doors for me, says Tristano. It made everyone aware of this little asshole playing the piano but kind of wanting to be in the techno realm, in a way. Here, Francesco takes us through Not For Piano, track by track. There is another, more epic, version of this track that I did with Rami on my album, Pop Art. The Bells. This, of course, is a version of the very recognisable Jeff Mills track, The Bells.

Rami Khalifé began playing alongside Juilliard alumnus, pianist and fellow renegade Francesco Tristano, forging an enduring collaborative relationship and friendship. Together they performed several improvised concerts for piano-duo, a first in Juilliard's history. In 2011, a new familial collaboration debuted at the Beirut Music & Art Festival under the banner of 'Marcel, Rami & Bachar Khalife'. The concert showcased a fusion of oriental, electronic, classical and percussion music composed by the trio. The collaboration was critically acclaimed.

Francesco Tristano is a Luxembourg classical and experimental pianist and composer, who also plays the clarinet. He composes both classical and electronic music and has previously released his music on labels like Deutsche Grammophon, Get Physical and Transmat.
