Therion (formerly Blitzkrieg, Megatherion) is a Swedish symphonic metal band founded by Christofer Johnsson in 1987. Its name was inspired by the Celtic Frost album To Mega Therion. To Mega Therion" is Greek for "The Great Beast" and was a title used by occultist Aleister Crowley. Originally a death metal band, Therion adjusted its musical style by adding orchestral elements, including choirs, classical musicians, and even a full orchestra at their concert performances
Therion were a fairly ordinary death metal band when they formed in the late 80s, but they progressed with each album, adding keyboards and symphony until they had built enough to reach what is often considered the high point of their career. Take the symphonies and keyboard arrangments of your previous albums to a next level, create the illusion of a classical work with neat Latin expressions such as Preludium, Interludium and Postludium (Grand finale). Furthermore, the album went on to be success, selling much better than Therion's older albums, despite of a mix-up occurring in which Theli was released containing only German Christmas carols.

Theli is an album released by the symphonic metal band Therion. While Theli stays true to the band's roots in that it has a very dark sound, it is a major turning point in their history. Set, Egyptian god, is shown on the front cover. This was the last album on which Christofer Johnsson sang, and the final album to include any death growls until their brief appearance on 2004's "Lemuria". A music video was filmed for the song "To Mega Therion".

I used songs that I had written years earlier, but saved as there was no possibility to record them at those stages + wrote some new tunes to finish this album that was a long time dream of mine to do.
