The subsequent album releases were licensed to Mercury Records by Granz, who also issued them on his own labels, Norgran, Clef and Verve. Their hallowed status and cultural significance was confirmed in 2010, when the series was chosen by the Library of Congress among that year’s inclusion in the National Recording Registry.

Very good historic recordings from 1944. Beware that these were recorded on records, not tape. As a long time fan of Norman Granz's Jazz at the Philharmonic series and one who spent over 50 years in the high end audio business, I have to choose Volume 3 as the best. THE selection, The Blues, is unreal.

The first of seven volumes to present all of Billie Holiday's Verve recordings, JAZZ AT THE PHILHARMONIC gathers live performances from 1945 to 1947, as well as her 1957 Newport Jazz Festival set and the two songs she sang at the Seven Ages of Jazz Festival in 1958. Throughout, Holiday's voice transcends fluctuations in sound quality to swirl straight into the listener's blood.

At the Opera House is a 1958 live album by Ella Fitzgerald. The album presents a recording of the 1957 Jazz at the Philharmonic Concerts. This series of live jazz concerts was devised by Fitzgerald's manager Norman Granz, they ran from 1944 to 1983. Featured on this occasion, in 1957, are Fitzgerald and the leading jazz players of the day in an onstage jam session.

Jazz at the Philharmonic, or JATP, (1944 - 1983) was the title of a series of jazz concerts, tours and recordings produced by Norman Granz. Over the years, Jazz at the Philharmonic featured many of the era's preeminent musicians, including Louie Bellson, Ray Brown, Benny Carter, Buddy DeFranco, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Roy Eldridge, Herb Ellis, Ella Fitzgerald, Stan Getz, Dizzy Gillespie, Lionel Hampton, Bill Harris, Coleman Hawkins, .

Jazz at the Philharmonic. After the JATP concerts in the fall of 1957, "Jazz at the Philharmonic" ceased touring the United States and Canada (with the exception of one final North American Tour in 1967), but continued intermittently mainly in Europe and Japan until 1983, with the very last JATP concerts being performed in October, 1983, in Tokyo, Japan

Songs from Historic Jazz Recordings, Volume 3 by Clarence Williams, Count Basie.
