The Grateful Dead is the debut album of the Grateful Dead. It was released by Warner Bros. Records in March 1967. According to the biographies of both bassist Phil Lesh and drummer Bill Kreutzmann, the band released the album as San Francisco's Grateful Dead. The album was primarily recorded at RCA's Studio A, in Los Angeles, in only four days. The band had wanted to record the tracks in their hometown of San Francisco, but no recording studios in the area had modernized equipment at the time

Film Noir works are often low on exposition to heighten tension, keeping the audience guessing until the final unraveling. The conclusion takes place in the closing moments, ties up all the loose ends, answers many (if not all) of the major questions and keeps the morally ambiguous theme of the work intact. These factors contribute to the widely-held opinion that Film Noir works are among the best artistic works of all time despite their grim settings and contemptible characters. Not to be confused with the religious conspiracy anime Noir, nor with a certain carapacian Archagent  . The 2007 Hollywood Portfolio of Vanity Fair magazine set up a faux noir film called "Killers Kill, Dead Men Die" to accompany the series of photos taken, complete with casting and set descriptions in the captions.

A clean print of the lost film noir classic Killers Kill, Dead Men Die was miraculously discovered at a Mulholland Drive lawn sale last month, resolving a mystery that has transfixed noir fans for decades. Little was known about the film for certain, though it has been the subject of wild rumors ever since the screenplay was written, probably in 1942, by Raymond Chandler (based on The Big Blood, a story by James M. Cain, and later revised, as No Orchids for Oscar, by Dashiell Hammett and William Faulkner). It is suspected that additional scenes were shot with Joan Crawford, Richard Widmark, Gene Tierney, Lee Marvin, Gloria Grahame, Ida Lupino, and Jimmy Stewart throughout the 1950s, when the picture was known by its two shooting titles, Dame Danger and He Died by Murder.

Not buried yet mind you, just dead. Some of the genre's iconography still exists here and there, like in the visual aesthetics of modern thrillers, but true Film Noir can't seem to exist on its own anymore without some kind of post-modern crutch to prop it up and give it relevance. It seems to NEED the high school hallways of Rian Johnson's Brick, the animated landscape of D. Jud Jones' Film Noir, or the over-the-top parody of The Spirit to exist anymore  . first of all, it's visually stunning. It's got a lush and dreamy patina that makes it feel like a Film Noir fantasy, particularly when it goes into flashbacks (which it does often). It's kind of cool because a lot of the time it feels like the film is set in the past but it's not. The story is truly labyrinthine, spanning generations.
