One of the UK’s most reliably eardrum-wrecking musicians, Haswell has collaborated with Aphex Twin, Florian Hecker, Mika Vainio and more in his time. He’s been releasing records and pushing an exploratory, confrontational approach to live shows since the late ’90s and counts himself a firm affiliate of the Birmingham techno set (Regis, Surgeon, Female et al). Ridiculous bureaucracy and manufacturing restrictions are the compelling influences behind an album which had originally been conceived to be released in an altogether more ambitious format.

Juicing Haswell’s dancefloor-generous album As Sure As Night Follows Day, the stellar cast of time-served usurpers and outsiders flip his n0!sy muzzle in their own image with deadly results. Autechre’s Conformity Version of Heavy Handed Sunset effectively dubs Russell into submission by way of water-boarding smothers and accentuated pressure points - precisely choking, kneading, kicking and distending the original like its some sorta Stretch Armstrong plaything.
