BTTB is a 1999 piano solo and duet album by Ryuichi Sakamoto. The album title is an acronym for "Back To The Basics". Two separate versions of the album were pressed, for Japanese and international markets. The International version opens with the three songs off of the ウラBTTB maxi single released in Japan as a promotional tool, while replacing a few pieces elsewhere in the album. The maxi single peaked at number four on the Japanese singles chart. All tracks written by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Ryuichi Sakamoto ‎– BTTB. Label: Sony Classical ‎– SK 89079. Produced, composed & performed by Ryuichi Sakamoto. Recorded at Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall, MOURI ARTWORKS Studio & Victor Aoyama Studio. Mastered at Sterling Sound.

BTTB - "back to the basics" - was the composer's 14th studio album, an intimate collection of brief solo piano compositions that was first released in Japan in 1998. At the time he released the placid suite, Sakamoto was a long-established luminary, an immensely prolific and celebrated musician who'd won a BAFTA for his score to Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence (in which he also co-starred, along with David Bowie), an Oscar for his score to The Last Emperor and a Golden Globe for his score to The.

Beauty (Ryuichi Sakamoto album). Beauty is the eighth solo studio album by Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto. Both a Japanese and an international version were released by Virgin Records in 1989 and 1990, respectively.

In anticipation of the release, Sakamoto has dropped a new music video for "energy flow," a hit track from the single "Ura BTTB," released in 1999, which became somewhat of a social phenomenon in Japan and sold over a million copies.

Ryuichi Sakamoto has written some great film scores in his time, and from his solo works come a collage of music styles. His mastery of the piano shows its face in some songs, and is amiss in others, but each piece still has a mellow beauty to it. This is not a shocking piece, nor is it extremely exciting. BTTB - Back to the Basics - is an album I bought after my daughter mentioned she liked the melody of one of the pieces ("Chanson"). I've never regretted it - it is such a mellow, enjoyable collection of relatively simple piano pieces that it can brighten quiet days or provide an escape from noisy ones.
