Eugene Bertram Krupa (January 15, 1909 – October 16, 1973) was an American jazz drummer, band leader, actor, and composer known for his energetic style and showmanship. His drum solo on "Sing, Sing, Sing" (1937) elevated the role of the drummer from an accompanying line to an important solo voice in the band

Listen to The Drum Battle (Live) from Gene Krupa & Buddy Rich's Buddy Rich - The World's Greatest Drummer for free, and see the artwork, lyrics and similar artists. The two collaborated on occasion and their collaborations were usually drum-centric and in the big band jazz tradition. Buddy Rich (1917 – 1987) was an American jazz drummer and bandleader. Rich was billed as one of the world's greatest drummers in his lifetime and was known for his virtuoso drumming technique, power, groove, and speed.

Roy Eldridge (trumpet) got the featured billing (along with vocalist Anita O'Day) he deserved on Drummer Man, a date featuring Gene Krupa fronting a big band. This was a reunion of sorts, but one that worked well, better in some cases than the original. The title's a bit misleading, for although Krupa's propulsions were clearly heard, his soloing was limited to a few features. Roy Eldridge, Gene Krupa. Gene Krupa Big Band, Gene Krupa.
