Verve's Grammy Winners. For the non-cognoscente, winning a Grammy award might indicate a best effort from an artist in any particular year. To the performer or publicist, it's something to be promoted and proud of. Jazz listeners are not likely to care all that much, given how the music is routinely snubbed. It's nice that the Verve label made this collection of 15 selections that won Grammys, but it is not at all that indicative of any trends when the individual tracks were winners

The Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical has been awarded since 1959. The award had several minor name changes: In 1959 the award was known as Best Engineered Record – Non-Classical. In 1960 it was awarded as Best Engineering Contribution – Other Than Classical or Novelty. From 1961 to 1962 it was awarded as Best Engineering Contribution – Popular Recording. In 1963 it was awarded as Best Engineering Contribution – Other Than Novelty and Other Than Classical.
