Jeffrey Ross Hyman (May 19, 1951 – April 15, 2001), known professionally as Joey Ramone, was an American musician and singer-songwriter, lead vocalist of the punk rock band the Ramones. Joey Ramone's image, voice, and tenure as frontman of the Ramones made him a countercultural icon. Jeffrey Ross Hyman was born on May 19, 1951, in Queens, New York to a Jewish family. His parents were Charlotte (née Mandell) and Noel Hyman.

Did "punk" offer a more loveable figure to posterity than Joey? Whatever your answer, it's always a pleasure to hear his nasal beluga wail, even from beyond the grave; even from within a production sound so, er, evolved from Tommy Erdelyi's no-fi blueprint. Still, the spirit is pretty faithful. We get big chugging ballads, slugging distortion-fests, big-gloomy-softie emotions; and we get Joan Jett, Steve Van Zandt and Lenny Kaye. Nothing you wouldn't expect.

A note is listed about Daniel Rey's production credits:
"This is stated in fairness to the producers: Joey's vocal tracks were taken from demos owned by Joey, but held in possession of Rey prior to and following Joey's passing, thus forcing the Estate of Joey Ramone to re-acquire them from Rey for all further production and release. Co-production credit has been given Rey in fulfillment of contractual obligations. The producers who did all further work on these tracks are as indicated above."

Tracks 5 and 10 were previously released on Merry Christmas (I Don't Want To Fight Tonight) (Revised) single and track 13 was previously released on Andy Shernoff - Are You Ready To Rapture? 7".
