Freddy Quinn (born Franz Eugen Helmut Manfred Nidl, 27 September 1931, Niederfladnitz, Austria) is an Austrian singer and actor whose popularity within the German-speaking world soared in the late 1950s and 1960s. Similar to Hans Albers two generations before him, Quinn adopted the persona of the rootless wanderer who goes to sea but longs for a home, family and friends. Quinn's Irish family name comes from his Irish born salesman father, Johann Quinn.

Interpret: Freddy Quinn. Album titlle: Die größten Stimmen unserer Zeit (3-CD). Genre Schlager und Volksmusik. 13. So Geht Das Jede Nacht. Freddy Quinn is without doubt an icon of the German entertainment industry. His songs about loneliness and wanderlust, mostly composed by Lothar Olias, and his film appearances have made him popular and prosperous. With ten number one hits such as Heimweh, Junge komm bald wieder or Die Gitarre und das Meer, his record company Polydor made millions in the 50s and 60s. And with his melancholic sailor and adventure ballads, the man helped many film producers to create villas, yachts and fast cars.
