The 1953 Errol Flynn film, The Master of Ballantrae (based on the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson) was remade into a television movie in 1984. Hired to score this piece of swashbuckling cinema was Bruce Broughton, who in 1984 made the transition from composing for television to composing for feature films (Ice Pirates). A nice addition to the score, which runs about 48 minutes long, is the inclusion of the original television teaser music, which Broughton apparently wrote just for the commercial. Most people know of Broughton from his work on Silverado, Tombstone, Young Sherlock Holmes, Lost In Space, and others.

The Goonies: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is the official soundtrack album released by Epic Records in conjunction with the 1985 film The Goonies. The album is known primarily because it included the song "The Goonies 'R' Good Enough" by singer Cyndi Lauper, who had a cameo in the film (as herself, singing the song on TV). The album was released in LP and cassette format internationally, and a limited CD release in some countries.

Broughton is a member of the Board of Directors of ASCAP, a former Governor of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, a Past President of the Society of Composers & Lyricists, and a lecturer at UCLA and USC. Broughton's song "Alone yet Not Alone," from the film with the same name, was originally nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song at the 86th Academy Awards.

The Monster Squad tells the story of six suburban kids who go toe-to-toe with some of the baddest monsters of all time: The Mummy, The Wolfman, The Gillman, and Dracula join forces to unleash evil on the world, and only the titular "Monster Squad" (with a little help from Frankenstein's monster) can stop them.
