Death of machines 'Third Piano Sonata'. I love Antheil, and these piano concertos is full of wonderfull creative composing. Fine and emotionaly strong interpretations. Some of this is hilarious 1920s music . George Antheil wrote wonderfully crazy, uninhibited, and sometimes-prophetic music. Listen to the recently unearthed First piano concerto, where the soloist’s bare-boned unison lines play against fast moving orchestral color chords, and you’ll think, Aha! Messiaen!

Allegretto con spirito (Live) Max Reger; Markus Becker; Joshua Weilerstein; NDR Radiophilharmonie. Episoden, Op. 115. 4. I. Andante Max Reger; Markus Becker. Of course I’ve been familiar with the Piano Concerto for a long time, but I only recorded it for the first time live in January 2017. That is the source for the recording on this album. To be honest, at first I had my doubts about this piece. We already encounter that kind of superabundance elsewhere in Reger, but here he takes it to the extreme. The 'full' piano is usually playing in tandem with the full orchestra.

Markus Becker (who recorded all of Reger's solo piano works over twenty years) rounds off the collection with the Épisodes, written in the same year as the Concerto, but in an almost-miniaturist style – which just goes to show that all of Reger's work isn't marked by gigantism as these pieces all clock in at three or four minutes each.
Brahms: Piano Concertos Nos 1 & 2. Reissued. Sample this album Artist - Artist (Sample). Clifford Curzon plays spectacularly well in these recordings of the Brahms piano concertos - although by "spectacularly" I don't mean that he in any way is flashy or self-regarding. He just finds the right style and sound for the character of the music. His sound (including his phrasing) in, for example, the first and fourth movements of the Second concerto are nothing like anything one heard in the First.
