Alex Jesus A must for anyone interested in emo music. A very personal album about loss, death and mourning. Frank Russo An amazing band! I hope they keep making music because this is honestly some of the best music I've heard in awhile.
Produced by Mike Sapone & Sorority Noise. Album You’re Not as as You Think. Where Are You? Lyrics. Is everything okay?" "Not right now, but it will be I'm just stuck in the same old place again". Do you need anything?" "Well, considering I'm still standing I'd say I've done pretty well for myself And I've seen both sides of the field And I've lost more blood than one should yield But I'm still here and my old wounds have healed".
Indie rock band Sorority Noise grapples with emotional ugliness that can ensue following such a death with their newest album You’re Not as As You Think an ode to the permanence of death and the insidious nature of depression and drug addiction. Having lost two close friends, one to suicide and one to a heroin overdose, lead singer Cameron Boucher lends a real sense of raw gravitas to the songs, wailing and wringing emotional release out of every word of every song

So begins the first explosive chorus on Sorority Noise's bracing and cathartic new album. Playing like a power-pop version of Home, Like NoPlace is There, complete with a lot more guitar solos and black humor, You're Not As As You Think finds Sorority Noise making a statement of pointed contradictions. The release finds them humbled but louder than ever, with a liberal amount of frenetic climaxes accentuating the band's slyly subtle and bouncy demeanor.
You're Not As As You Think, Sorority Noise's third album, was released on March 17th via Triple Crown Records. But even amidst weighty subject matter, Sorority Noise want to give you a sense of resilience: No matter what I feel, it’s going to be OK, Boucher says
WHAT'S DIFFERENT: Sorority Noise have really looked to expand their sound with this follow-up to 2015’s acclaimed second album Joy, Departed. Like that record, this one traverses the dark channels of frontman Cameron Boucher’s heart, mind and life-taking on depression, death and anxiety, among other subjects-but does so via a wealth of previously unexplored sounds. WHY YOU SHOULD CARE: It’s an album that holds nothing back. Musically, it’s nuanced but raw, explosive but restrained, matched only by the torrent of unapologetic emotion of Boucher’s subject matter. He sings about his drug problems and his dead friends with unflinching honesty, and as hard-hitting as that is, it’s also life-affirming. Just listen to Where Are You?, which burns with beautiful defiance in the face of loss, loneliness and mortality.
