Vein’s appropriation of nu-metal is effective because it’s irreverent. Errorzone acknowledges that the genre reigned supreme for a time, and that it wasn’t an aberration so much as a gateway to better heavy music.

No medicine No remedy No paradise eternity Embrace the human form Enter the errorzone

Vein’s debut Errorzone is a twenty-seven-minute bonafide crusher. From start to finish, this record is disarming, brutal, honest, melodic, and relentlessly interesting. Virus://Vibrance opens things on, what might be, the most digestible song for someone that’s not into this kind of music. The song feels like it has a call to action instrumentally, staying punk and then getting into some brutal territory. Start to finish, this album is crushing and moving. The brutality is rampant and the flow of this album is masterful. When Didio cleanly coos, It’s out of my hands it starts to sound like an apt self-descriptor for the way this record is (rightfully) exploding.

Vein's feverish spirit on record is, without question, their unique selling point on errorzone. errorzone melds those disparate-on-paper yet ctice styles into a volatile whole and does so without compromising the underground ethos of the band as heard on their previous releases. The r song structures they've favored up to now return on their full-length, albeit with improved production. And this mostly concise and concussive method keeps the listener on their toes as the album flits by in a blur of beat-downs and jagged, shape-shifting, discordant riffs.

While Errorzone is an album deeply rooted in nostalgia, Vein manages to carve out their own remarkable aesthetic. Vocalist Anthony Didio’s shrill howls and melodramatic crooning sound apocalyptic over the band’s dystopian backdrop. Unpredictability and terror reign supreme on ragers like the revamped Old Data in a Dead Machine and Demise Automation. Errorzone is as killer as first albums come, but it’s not without its growing.
