Keep Some Hope 9. Everything All The Time 10. Set It Free (Bonus Track) We decided this should be our ‘going back to our roots’ album. Which is drums and vocals. Except for a bass line here and there, that is what it is. Drums and voice. The music of Rhythm is lean, hungry and defiant.
Wildbirds & Peacedrums is a Swedish duo, Mariam Wallentin and husband Andreas Werliin. Wallentin and Werliin met in 2004 whilst studying at the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg, Sweden. They married a year later and formed Wildbirds & Peacedrums in 2007. Their music primarily consists of drums, percussion and vocals, with Wallentin also playing the string instrument the cittre, pump-organs and steel-pan on some songs.

Following the success of 2010's expansive, experimental Rivers, Mariam Wallentin and Andreas Werliin embarked on a long string of performances that honed their already powerful live act. Inspired, they pared Rhythm's songs down to the most vital aspects of their music: vocals and percussion.

Swedish husband and wife duo Wildbirds & Peacedrums are aware that sometimes less is more. On their fourth aptly titled full-length Rhythm they strip back their sound to bare essentials. Only vocals and percussion sparsely augmented with bass lines signal the minimalist approach that captures the intensity of the duo's live shows. In addition, both singer Mariam Wallentin and t Andreas Werliin show greater artistic maturity that's a direct result of their numerous collaborations with other musicians including the big band luminaries, Fire! Orchestra.
Wildbirds And Peacedrums' previous album, Rivers (The Leaf Label, 2010) featured the Schola Cantorum Reykjavik Chamber Choir on some of the songs. The choir gave those songs a heightened emotional impact, a power and an intensity that stayed in the memory for a long time. Rhythm doesn't have the spectral quality that those voices added to Rivers, but Wallentin and Werliin's production gives the sound such richness and strength that its energy is almost palpable. The energy is directed in many different ways.
