Ueno Park (��������, Ueno Kōen) is a large public park next to Ueno Station in central Tokyo. The park grounds were originally part of Kaneiji Temple, which used to be one of the city's largest and wealthiest temples and a family temple of the ruling Tokugawa clan during the Edo Period. Ueno Zoo opens 9:30 to 17:00 (tickets sold until 16:00) and closes every Monday(closes Tuesday if Monday is a public holiday or Tokyo Citizen's Day ) and December 29 through January 1.
