The name Stendeck is a variation of "stendec", the final strange Morse code radio message sent by the plane Star Dust on August 2, 1947, before its disappearance. Stendec is Ben Edwards (Benge) and Paul Merritt. Paul has been involved in the electronic music scene since the mid-nineties dj'ing and organising parties. He has played all over the world and his show t:com on the internet radio station ww. aialive. com, which began broadcasting in 1995, is now officially the longest running radio show of any kind on the net. He also runs the expanding label with Be. .

The music of Stendec separates itself from much Idm by virtue of it's delicate attention to detail and padded melodic warmth. At times reminiscent of Isan, at others floating out there on their own, Stendec manage to avoid dry electronic clichés by virtue of an innate understanding of emotive recording and listening processes designed for self reflection. It's an excellent collection of pieces veering from planetarium soundtracks to the notes that would be made by the distant haze on an arid Spanish road in high summer.
