Neil Flanz is a pedal steel guitar player living in Austin, TX. He has played and toured for over 30 years with artists including Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris, Charlie Louvin and Joe Sun. Neil was inducted into the International Steel Guitar Hall Of Fame on June 12, 2016. Neil was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Ingram Cecil Connor III (November 5, 1946 – September 19, 1973), known professionally as Gram Parsons, was an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and pianist. Parsons is best known for his work with the Byrds and Flying Burrito Brothers. He also popularized what he called "Cosmic American Music", a hybrid of country, rhythm and blues, soul, folk, and rock. He recorded as a solo artist and with the International Submarine Band, the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers.

Earth is a live album by Neil Young and Promise of the Real, released on June 17, 2016 on Reprise Records. Recorded during the band's Rebel Content Tour in 2015, the album was produced by Young and John Hanlon and features live performances augmented by studio overdubs and additional nature and animal sounds. Young described the album as "a collection of 13 songs from throughout my life, songs I have written about living here on our planet together.

To promote his first album with Emmylou Harris, GP (Reprise, 1973), Gram Parsons assembled the group that came to be known as "The Fallen Angels. The Fallen Angels Tour didn't win many new fans, but it did become the stuff of legend among Parsons buffs. Parsons had to use a new band, since the Elvis Presley sidemen who played on the LP were too expensive for a tour. Two Nashville session men filled out the roster: bassist Kyle Tullis and steel guitarist Neil Flanz. The rehearsals took place at Phil Kaufman's home and quickly degenerated into parties. The band's retinue included Gretchen Parsons, self-styled "executive nanny" Kaufman, Kaufman's girlfriend Kathy Miles, and an ex-marine tourbus driver known as "Leadfoot Lance.
