Smash Mouth's "Astro Lounge" was one of the first tapes I listened to when I was making my first venture into music, and it's kind of bizarre that an album like "Astro Lounge" would be the one to blow my mind in the vein of someone that, say, had the fortune to listen to "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" as their first taste. I was about 11 years-old when I listened to "Astro Lounge" and became immediately enthralled in its vibrant, catchy landscapes.

Smash Mouth is an American rock band from San Jose, California. The band was formed in 1994, and was originally composed of Steve Harwell (lead vocals), Kevin Coleman (drums), Greg Camp (guitar), and Paul De Lisle (bass). They are known for songs such as "Walkin' on the Sun" (1997), "All Star" (1999), "Then The Morning Comes" (1999), and a cover of The Monkees' "I'm a Believer" (2001).

Based on their infectious summer single "Walking on the Sun," it was easy to dismiss Smash Mouth as a one-hit wonder, since it was hard to believe that they'd be able to top that sun-kissed delight that was easily the highlight of their debut, Fush Yu Mang.
