Klark Kent is the debut solo album of Stewart Copeland, and the first solo album recorded by any band member of The Police. The album was released in 1980 as a 10 inch EP on green vinyl. It was later re-released on black vinyl as a 12 inch with a grey and black sleeve. It includes the song "Don't Care", which had entered the UK Top 50 two years earlier

Klark Kent was Stewart Copeland's first solo album, recorded under the pseudonym Klark Kent "Away from Home" and "Ritch in a Ditch" were also released as singles. All songs written by Klark Kent.

The work of Klark Kent almost inevitably brings up a question: Is the world really ready for a record that combined the musical sensibilities of the Police and the lyrical concerns of Weird Al Yankovic? Former Police drummer Stewart Copeland claims to play all the instruments on this set of bouncy, quirky pop songs, and there is a distinct sonic resemblance to his old band.

Klark Kent was Stewart Copeland's first solo album, recorded under the pseudonym Klark Kent  . They concluded "the album only really succeeds when Copeland sticks to instrumentals".

Talk about Klark Kent - Kollected Works

Wrathshaper
Just a note: That on this CD, there is a 15th hidden track, "Guerilla", after "Office Talk". "Guerilla" is a track from the original 8-track mini album. This is why the listed time for "Office Talk" is 10:50.

"Too Kool To Kalypso" was a non-LP A-side (B-side was on the album, I forget what it was). "Thrills", "Office Girls", & "Office Talk" were B-sides (as well as the 1st two being on that IRS comp. "Strange Things Happen", "Love Lessons", and "Stay Ready", I have not a clue where they're from -- I never heard them (heard OF them!) until I got this comp. The rest of the tracks are from the 8-song album. There is also one other Klark Kent track omitted from this release: "Yo Ho Ho", on an IRS Christmas CD: Just In Time For Christmas (you can find the track on YouTube). Great song, it references A Christmas Story. You may also want to know that 3 of the tracks are a bit shorter on the CD, all early fades: "Ritch In A Ditch is about 18 seconds shorter, "Excesses" fades 10 seconds early, and "Office Talk" loses 24 seconds. PLUS: When Klark Kent mimed the song "Don't Care" on the UK show Top Of The Pops, it was to a re-recorded version of the song (That is also on YouTube). Oh, and I posted a re-edited version of the promo video "Away From Home" on Youtube as well (twostikks1), if you're interested. :)

That was good to know--years ago I unfortunately had to get this via *cough* alternate means, and I always wondered why they left "Guerilla" off of this compilation. Now that I have it on my music server, I extracted that hidden song separately, so it appears as track #15. I have the 8-song 10" EP (the 2nd pressing--black vinyl, silver/maroon label), plus the IRS Greatest Hits Vol. 2 which has "Thrills" and "Office Girls." Were the rest of these tracks B-sides and/or released on other compilations?
