Friends, this is Tex Ritter with a strange story about a soldier boy and a deck of cards. During a North African campaign a bunch of soldier boys had been on a long hike, and they arrived in a little town called Casino. The next morning being Sunday several of the boys went to church. A Sergeant commanded the boys in church, and after the Chaplain had read the prayer the text was taken up next.

He is a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame. Tex Ritter, the son of James Everett Ritter and Martha Elizabeth Matthews grew up on his family's farm in Panola County and attended grade school in Carthage.

Born: January 12, 1905 in Marvaul, Tx - Died: January 2, 1974 in Nashville American singer and actor; Woodward Maurice Tex Ritter played cowboy songs on the radio in New York in the first part of the 30s when a Hollywood producer discovered him. He appeared in a total of 85 films. Short bio: In late 1932 Tex cut a few records at the ARC Recording Studios in New York but his career only started the next year with 78rpm releases on various labels such as Banner, Conqueror, Columbia, Oriole, Perfect or Romeo
