Ben Klock - Berghain 04 flac album

This disc is the fourth in a series of DJ mixes released under the Berghain imprimatur (though what that means isn't entirely clear, as the recording doesn't seem to represent an actual live set from the club), and it's the debut mix by DJ Ben Klock.

A resident at Berghain since its opening in 2004, he has been able to leave his mark on the club’s unique sound, in turn the special space influenced Klock’s approach as a DJ and producer as well  . And of course his monthly marathon sets at Berghain that escort all what’s being said with pure sound and consistently motivate Ben Klock to skip the trapdoor called routine.

Ben Klock seems like a fairly physical dude. His music- best described as a techno/house hybrid- sounds like it's entered the world only after roiling around inside himself; just not his head so much as his torso and legs. One, his debut album, sounded well-trained, competitive. Klock's first commercial mix- Berghain 04, composed for the Berlin nightclub at which he is a resident- retains One 's sense of physicality and restlessness. DJ mixes are made for dancing, or at least extended listening; by definition they should contain some sense of community

Klock maintains a steady mood; dark techno undertones are interlaced with restrained house. The latter is epitomized in the Marcel Dettman remix of "Work", in which soulful vocals are laid over an indifferent drum track. Of particular note are the two tracks "Confused" and "De Cago", a good peak to the mix (he doesn't bang it out like Len Faki and others do). Ben Klock's most sound mix CD to date. Ben Klock (born 1972) is a German techno artist, DJ and record label owner. He is resident at Berghain, a well-known techno club in Berlin. In 2006 he founded the techno label Klockworks.
