Morrison has left his mark on over 40 years' worth of rock, blues, folk, jazz and soul, as well as several genres that only really exist on his records. He's the most painterly of vocalists, a master of unexpected phrasing whose voice can transform lyrics into something abstract and mystical - most famously on his repetition of . .and the love that loves the love. " on "Madame George," from Astral Weeks. These Arms of Mine" is still Otis' signature song for me. It is so simple in its beauty and message. It was his greatest-hits album, the first one. The voice was at once modern, in all the things it was railing against, and very ancient. It felt strangely familiar to an Irishman.

Excellent soul album, somewhat overlooked by fans of this genre, because it was created by an artist associated only with the blues scene. His version of Hey Girl is one of the best ever. A hard-to-find Blue Note album from soul jazz piano master Gene Harris! 1971’s Gene Harris/The Three Sounds is easily one of the hippest and funkiest records Harris made with his group the Three Sounds. The album was a successful and seamless marriage disparate genres. Soul and funk rubbed shoulders with samba and Baião. Rare and long out of print. Private press released by Silver Spoon a small independent label out of Detroit.
