STRUTCD 006. Larry Levan. Live At The Paradise Garage - Disc Two ‎(CD, Comp, Mixed, Promo, Car). Strut, West End Records, Garage Records. This is 80 minutes of pure Paradise Garage spirit caught in the act. He used 2 Thorens turntables without pitch control and a very primitive mixer,so all of the turnovers are made manually children's voices saying - " obey your mother and your father, do what the teacher says and everything will be allright. nother kid says : "I believe there are more people that are bad, than there (are) good

The Paradise Garage, also known as "the Garage" or the "Gay-rage", was a discotheque in New York City notable in the history of modern dance and pop music, as well as LGBT and nightclub cultures.

Larry Levan (/ləˈvæn/; born Lawrence Philpot, July 20, 1954 – November 8, 1992) was an American DJ best known for his decade-long residency at the New York City night club Paradise Garage, which has been described as the prototype of the modern dance club. He developed a cult following who referred to his sets as "Saturday Mass".

Larry Levan's Paradise Garage Audio CD. The album kicks off with Tanna Gardner's "Heartbeat". You'll find this album on other Larry Levan anthologies, but this is the best remaster as the bassline smothers you like the humid air on a hot summer day. The most suprising track is "Serious, Sirius, Space Party" by Ednah Holt. She's able to escape the chessy trappings of the Richie Family- and create something so cosmic and funky that George would be beggin her to jump on the Mothership.

There have been numerous compilations issued looking to offer some insight into the magic that Larry Levan brought to Paradise Garage, but few have rarely captured it as well as this selection from Salsoul. Originally released in CD format just over a decade ago, Hisa Ishioka of King Street Sounds, Nite Grooves put the compilation together solely for the Japanese market and it's popularity resulted in two further volumes.

Paradise Garage includes six actual Levan post-productions from the vaults of Salsoul Records - previously released as the LP Larry Levan's Greatest Mixes, Vol. 2. Each runs over six minutes, and the selections (including "I Got My Mind Made Up" by Instant Funk and "Double Cross" by First Choice) are ones that many clubbers would expect to hear on an average night. at the Paradise Garage.

Talk about Larry Levan - Larry Levan's Paradise Garage

Abuseyourdna
Not all copies have this defect on the D side. I have had two copies now that play all the way through with no problems.
ChallengeMine
I got this record for free in a giveaway from a Mobile Mondays/Salsoul sponsored party a few years back. It was defected when I got it - "Make It Last For Ever" has a bad skip, like a defect, definitely not able to fix.
Saimath
Shiiiiet.Fantastisk music, but can only agree to what's already been said about the pressing quality. My d'side (Make it last for ever, kind of ironic) skips and just sounds nuts halfway in. How could the miss major flaws like this?I've never had a record being this messed up, what do you do? Get in touch with the label, or?Such a pitty, the choice of tracks I just lovely.
Giamah
How can there be 19 copies up for sale, starting at something like 19€ when the pressing is useless? Some people have no heart. And then a disco record. Shameful stuff right there.
Dordred
Worst pressing ever! The record flies every time you touch it… And the speed is also affected… Cheap record, don't buy it
JoJolar
bought a cheap repress (recordshop says original stock copys from 1996 limited to 180), the innerlife track is broken (grooves missing?!?), bad quality overall (bumpy vinyl; sounds allright)... maybe that´s why there didn´t sell it in first place.
Windworker
Hey DrawPilgrim, also my copy has the inner life track broken (in 2 parts) and I've ordered it from Juno tooI forgot to ask for a refund but maybe someone has done it... and to think that I had a copy of the 96 and I gave to a friend
Gigafish
This album sums up Larry Levan. Excellent. Best songs are Instant Funk's "I Got My Mind Made Up", Skyy's "First Time Around" and Inner Life's "Make It Last Forver", which goes on for 13 minutes!!!!! Levan was not only the best DJ in history, but was so drenched in his music that it was no wonder they only served Kool-Aid at the Paradise Garage.
