Pink by Four Tet, released 25 February 2014 1. Locked 2. Lion 3. Jupiters 4. Ocoras 5. 128 Harps 6. Pyramid 7. Peace For Earth 8. Pinnacles. Edward No surprise these tracks still go hard years later and Four Tet plays them at his shows. It was a brilliant idea to take previously released singles and somehow seamlessly weave them into an album format.

Four Tet - Pink The dominant narrative surrounding Pink, from where I'm sitting at least, is Kieran Hebden's newfound embrace of dance music. Where past Four Tet albums have been strictly long-playing affairs, this eight-track release is a compilation of sorts, gathering together a series of vinyl singles released on Hebden's Text imprint over the past year or so.

Kieran Hebden (born 1977), best known by the stage name Four Tet, is an English musician. Hebden first came to prominence as a member of the band Fridge before establishing himself as a solo artist.

Pink is the sixth album by Four Tet, released on 20 August 2012. The album is primarily comprised of tracks that had already been issued as 12-inch singles; only "Lion" and "Peace for Earth" were previously unreleased.

It has been - but as separate 12"s. That said, I have a few of these 12"s and would consider buying this as one LP compilation pack.

When someone with the reputation of Four Tet releases an album and no one seems to care, then you know it's got some issues. PINK was released in 2012 and pretty much no one noticed. It's a compilation of melodic, danceable house that eschews the concept album approach that characterized his prior works. It's almost identical to Daphni's Jiaolong, also released in 2012, and while both releases have some really captivating highlights, the product as a whole leaves me disappointed. At the same time, this one is in my view a much tighter release than Jiaolong, which makes it all the more puzzling as to why critics seemed to favor the latter in their reviews. I don't understand why artists choose to make compilation albums. Either make a compilation/mix, or make an album. The reason why label-sponsored compilations work is because they seek to choose tracks that mesh together and contribute to a central sonic theme. The reason why artist albums work is because the artist designs the album with similar objectives in mind. But a compilation artist album just ignores this essential aspect of a successful music release by putting together odds and ends, apples and oranges, and the result is worth less than the sum of its parts.

I agree with you to an extent, but I think that there is a valid reason for the existence of this compilation, namely that these were all vinyl only tracks before this compilation was released, so I see it more as a compilation for casual listeners and digital DJs rather than vinyl DJs / collectors. But I agree with you that the product as a whole is less than the sum of parts.

Will this album be released outside of Japan on cd?
