This album is amazing ans should really have come out on a proper vinyl pressing back then, if not a full double vinyl then at least a good quality single one. It would have been a must have for any self respecting lover of Hip Hop music. At the time Westwood was playing some different mixes of the tracks that made it, an even larger 'at large' that I've never heard since amongst others, but the final LP versions are all massive

This is hip-hop during its golden age, when Nas and Tribe and De La Soul reigned supreme, when the beats were laid-back and sparse, and rhyming about politics and society were just as important, if not more so, than rhyming about women and earning money.

His third album, Against All Odds, didn't come out until 2001, a good eight years after Saga of a Hoodlum, and a string of releases followed that. However, Chapman never regained the attention and acclaim he had earlier in his career.

Intelligent Hoodlum would not record another album for 8 years (until 2001's "Against All Odds"). Although these two early records are looked at as his seminal material, he would go on to release several more albums under the name Tragedy Khadafi; the latest being 2007's "The Death of Tragedy". If you are into discovering some true political and conscious hip-hop gems from the golden age, look no further than this reasonably priced Nature Sounds 2-CD reissue.

Percy Chapman (born August 13, 1971), known by his stage name Tragedy Khadafi (formerly Intelligent Hoodlum), is an American rapper and record producer. Chapman hails from the Queensbridge Housing Projects in Queens, New York, who helped spawn other hip hop artists such as Cormega, Mobb Deep, Capone-N-Noreaga, Nas and many others both through production and influence. His name is a reference to the former leader of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi.
