Closure (opaque red 10 inch) (lp). In 2011 Hit+Run released the first beat tape by Kutmah entitled "Closure". The legendary 12-song album consisted of tracks recorded between 2004 - 2011 in Los Angeles as well as his recently transplanted home of London. The cover art was pulled from his collection of drawings made while in US federal detainment, which was later turned into a traveling art show and accompanying book entitled "Two Soups And A Honeybun".

Talk about Kutmah - Closure

Tenius
Gave my copy a spin today... nice dark, experimantal and atmospheric tracks. Sometimes quite surprising. The music suffers a bit on the bass-quality - a cassette release in the beginning often results in bass quite distorted. Sometimes there are even ducking-effects with the bass pushing everything else in the background. Then the sound has a sort of "pumping" ambience. What may sound cool on a cassette (tape saturation effects will "round out" some harsh distortions) is a little downer for a medium that is known for sensible bass management duties. Vinyl will not respond so graceful to high-energy ultra-low bass frequencies. You can hear this in some of early Aphex Twin releases, MF Doom or Flying Lotus use it too. It may be intended, but to me the effect is a littlebit too much from time to time. Using the EQ helps a bit but is not a real cure. But if there isn't a master that is "clean" all copies will carry the defect (more or less). People who like the music may say that it sounds "badass".Overall pressing quality is good, spectrum analysis shows that there are no digital artifacts or compression - quite sure they used an analog master for cutting or at least a very high-res digital one. Noisefloor is a little raised, there you have the good old cassette problems again :)Artwork is sleek and the thick screen-print colour-coating "reeks" as expected :DThere was quite some dirt in the sleeve, but nothing to worry. No damages, no scratched disc.Expensive (especially without a download...), as with all the RSD releases, but I was lucky enough to get a new copy in a recordstore blow-out-sale for a good price.4-Star release to my ears. Nice addition to my Kutmah-10inch-collection.
