Ford Theatre was one of the most promising bands of the 60's that were influenced by the bands such as The Kingsmen, The Beatles and The Byrds, although they recorded only 2 albums, both under the ABC Records label. The band's first album Trilogy for the Masses was produced by Bob Thiele in 1968. Ford Theatre was typical of the sound of Boston psychedelic rock circa 1968: dark, foreboding, somber songs, sometimes quite long, with sub-California acid rock guitar, and more weight on the organ than many bands of the period carried. Certainly the instrumental break on the 14-minute "Wake Up in the Morning" owes a lot to Doors songs like "Light My Fire. The gothic, classically influenced "Theme for the Masses" is reprised a couple of times after it opens the album, giving the record a thematic aura that really isn't borne out by the contents.

Trilogy For The Masses is a music studio album recording by FORD THEATRE (ve Rock) released in 1968 on cd, lp, vinyl and/or cassette. The band released only two albums in their short career and TRILOGY FOR THE MASSES was the debut. Although heavily steeped in what was called the Boston sound, the band always eschewed the comparisons and rightly so because FORD THEATRE was a little more forward thinking than the average psych band of the era. FORD THEATRE engaged in a far more Gothic and classically influenced style than the more pop oriented acts of the day.
