It was released on 16 March 1979, through record label Step-Forward. It is not, despite its title, a live album and was recorded in a studio in a single day and mixed by producer Bob Sargeant. The album was recorded at Camden Sound Suite on 15 December 1978 and mixed by producer Bob Sargeant on the 16th. The group had been booked into the studio for five days but Mark E. Smith had fallen ill, and cancelled the first three days.

Musically, there may have been several stylistic changes over the years, but it was often characterised by an abrasive guitar-driven sound and frequent use of repetition, always underpinned by Smith’s distinctive vocals and often cryptic lyrics.

No singles were taken from the album, a practice that would be commonplace for the group until 1986. By the time the album was released, drummer Karl Burns had left the band and guitarist Martin Bramah also quit shortly afterwards to form Blue Orchids, leaving Mark E Smith as the sole remaining founder member. download 320 ISRACLOUD. download flac ISRACLOUD.

This album, being a live take from Chris Hewitt’s 1978 Deeply Vale Festival, set high on the moors that separate Rochdale from Bury, captures the band just as they move into their second phase. Una Baines had departed her gorgeous wonky keyboard position – amid considerable acrimony – although her future Blue Orchids collaborator, Martin Bramah, was still onboard.

The band Primal Scream got their name from a lyric on this 51 second track: "I still believe in the R&R dream/ R&R as primal scream. Despite its title this was not recorded live, instead it was a studio recording. Marc Riley, who played bass on this album, was a member of The Fall until 1983. He later became a successful DJ, teaming up with Mark Radcliffe to present the "Mark and Lard" show on BBC Radio 1 between 1993 and 2004, (Riley was Lard), before fronting his own show on BBC 6 Music

This pressing sounds good indeed. However, record was slightly warped when opened, so there wasn't much quality control in the pressing plant.

I once had an original US pressing but sold it off for whatever stupid reason I had at the time. Believe it or not I think this Superior Viaduct pressing sounds better. The production will always be a glorious, muddy mess. This pressing, however, has bit more life than the original US. Besides, you can't go wrong with original UK track list! Cheers again, Superior Viaduct!

After hearing about the death of Mark E. Smith, I decided it was time for me to fill some holes in my Fall collection. I purchased this reissue and was blown away. It’s one of the best sounding records in my collection. The bass is very punchy and the sound is clear. No surface noise whatsoever which is amazing. Great reissue and pressing.
