After all, Southern Accents was criticized from many corners for being too slick, too much in Dave Stewart's corner instead of the Heartbreakers', so it made sense to quickly return the focus to the band, showcasing the group as the rockers they are. Pack Up the Plantation does do that, even if it isn't quite the barnburner it should have been. Part of the problem is that the song selection isn't quite as good as it could have been, relying heavily on Southern Accents material, including the weak "It Ain't Nothin' to M.

Tom Petty Hi-Res Remastering Note: The Hi-Res (24bit 96K) remastering of the Tom Petty catalog reveals a level of detail that was only previously heard by a select group of musicians, producers and engineers in the studio. It’s as close to the sound of original stereo master as you can get. We’re very happy with the way it came out, and believe it’s an important way to preserve the legacy of this great body of work.

There are still elements of 80s production here, even for a live album, but the disc is still packed with a punch heavy enough to satisfy fans who prefer the band's more blatant rock sound. The exciting cover of The Byrds' "So You Want To Be a Rock n' Roll Star" opens up the album, and a few other decent covers are found, including "Needles and Pins" and the Isely Brothers' "Shout
