Volume 2 in the Decca Sound series covers the analogue years, arguably the finest in Decca Classical's storied history. A complete list of its contents follows some initial observations. The collection is superb, although long time collectors like myself may have some of these recordings.

Volume 2 in the Decca Sound series covers the analogue years, arguably the finest in Decca Classical's storied history. They really cram the music in, and it's good stuff! In many cases I like the extra music as much or better than the album. The artwork on the CD covers is also quite interesting in many cases. The first CD has a picture of a skeleton playing a violin in a mansion with velvet drapes, fine woodwork, and the like.

Decca Sound: The Analogue Years. Presented on 54 CDs, this set of Decca's acclaimed analogue recordings is a reissue of historical significance because it documents the label's innovations in audio reproduction. The development of full frequency range recording and stereophonic sound (known as ffss) made Decca a world leader in classical recordings, and the pre-digital recordings from the 1950s, '60s, and '70s have been specially remastered for this CD collection.

Decca Sound - The Analogue Years. 54 albums from Decca’s golden years between 1954-1980, sensitively remastered onto CD and packaged with mock original jackets in a thick cardboard box, all for less than £100. How can it get any better than this? This is the third of Decca’s big boxes, plundering its back catalogue; alongside The Analogue Years, there’s a broader 50 disc Decca Sound box from 2011 (which is now getting slightly hard to find) and another 50-disc box set published this year to celebrate a half century of Vladimir Ashkenazy playing for the label.
