Mavivasa
The electro-soul of "Something's Gonna Get Me Started" kicks off Megablast's debut, CREATION, with a nice blast indeed, while their take on the Strike Boys' "Music Is In The Air" is a ride into darkness. "Love Is Always There" moves in a more romantic vein, with a broken beat background, while "Nightjogger" and "Move On" go for Detroit techno and German breaks. Even the deep dub of "Onemoreminuteman" and the title track both forge themselves an undeniable identity ("You Gotta Believe" leans more towards dub techno). "Sun" is more traditional jazzy downtempo, though it retains a darker edge, as does the broken beat gospel of "Free." The deep house run of "Wait" is solidified by Hubert Tubbs' rich baritone, and the joyous "Over" ends the album with a samba-like celebration. A blast through and through.
