Gabriel wrote the song Here Comes The Flood shortly after leaving Genesis, and while stylistically he wanted to get as far from the band, he used past and current band members to rehearse with. Guitar player Anthony Phillips who left the band in 1970 and was at that point a decent piano player after resuming his music studies, recalls: I remember doing Here Comes The Flood. Despite the results, Fripp participated as a guest musician on shows to promote the album. On October 4th 1978 show at the Bottom Line in NYC they played Here Comes The Flood as an encore.
