With a combination of musicianship and showmanship, he made the Boston Pops one of the best-known orchestras in the United States

The 100th Anniversary Concert, LP was commissioned in 1961 by the Boston-based life insurance company John Hancock in honor of its 100th anniversary in business (hence the title), and featured highlights of the careers of both Miller and Fiedler. Miller was a featured soloist for 26 years at the Metropolitan Opera, and was founder of the Pittsburgh Festival Opera. Few people are as synonymous with an organization as Arthur Fiedler was with the Boston Pops.
