Joe Budden is the eponymous debut studio album by American rapper Joe Budden. It was released on June 10, 2003, by On Top, distributed by Def Jam. Recording sessions took place from 2002 to 2003, with production by Dub B aka White Boy, along with the other high-profile producers such as Just Blaze and Lofey.

Joseph Anthony Budden II (born August 31, 1980) is an American broadcaster, songwriter and former rapper. He currently hosts The Joe Budden Podcast along with Jamil "Mal" Clay, Rory Farrell and Parks Vallely, released bi-weekly through this site and YouTube. He was previously one of three hosts of Complex’s Everyday Struggle along with DJ Akademiks and Nadeska Alexis, before leaving the show in January 2018.

While all of this was going down, industry heavyweight Def Jam signed Budden and prepared his self-titled debut album, which charted well its opening week, earned some critical support. After label delays of his second album Joey left Def Jam and started his Mood Muzik mixtape/albums which showed a more ferocious but vulnerable MC which gained him a new group of supporters.

Billboard' caught up with Joe Budden to discuss moving his popular 'The Joe Budden Podcast' series to this site, rolling out his new 'State of the Culture' show on REVOLT next week, and much more. Budden embarks on rare territory with his new State of the Culture show on REVOLT, where he will be joined by strong-minded co-hosts Remy Ma and Scottie Beam, formerly of Hot 97, every Monday starting Sept. The Joe Budden Podcast will also have a new home come next week (Sept. 12) as the popular podcast series has inked a fresh partnership with this site. Budden alongside Rory and Mal are expected to release a pair of episodes weekly, meaning Joe has a very busy fall in store, with a toddler still wreaking havoc around his New Jersey residence

Album Before the Album. Joe Budden is known for his energy, his eclectic lyricism and his emotional wordplay, all of which are showcased on The Album Before The Album. Budden unleashes various thoughts through freestyling, like not fitting in on "Outcast" and helping those less fortunate on "Broken Wing. He also designs his own mash-up as he borrows the hook and rhythm from "Outside" and flows over it, appropriately entitled "Staind" for the metal band he borrowed the idea from

That’s the way Joe Budden described the irony surrounding the current state of his career. Way back in 2003, the 36-year-old struck platinum with Pump It Up, released a successful, self-titled, debut album and seemed to be on top of the world. From there he began working on a follow up, The Growth, that would never see the light of day. Label strife caused him to split from Def Jam but also pushed him to the free mixtapes that cemented his legacy.
