Halou, pronounced huh-loo, is a band from San Francisco, California. Their music could be described as dream pop with female vocals; they are sometimes labeled trip hop, but the band rejects that label. Ryan and Rebecca met in 1992 as the drummer and vocalist for the Santa Cruz-based band Anomie.

Halou's debut album, We Only Love You, was released in 1998 on a small independent label called Bedazzled. Featuring Rebecca's powerfully honest vocals, the album meandered irreverently through abstract beats and sumptuously languid electronic pop music. the band decided to release on Bedazzled "Sans Soucie", a CD combining tracks from "Umani", remixes, rare and unreleased tracks.

BRUTALISM FOR LOVERS is HALOU’s first album in over 10 years and the fifth full-length release in the band’s 22 year existence. Showcasing a total evolution of their sound, the new album again features Rebecca’s achingly confrontational vocals, now delivered with an impassioned urgency that will break the hearts of listeners. The album gained the band a cult following and influential outlets like KEXP and KCRW helped spread the word, helping the band secure slots at major festivals, receive considerable acclaim from influential press outlets, and build a devoted fanbase.
