Caveman is an American indie rock band based in Brooklyn, New York. The band recorded their first studio album in 2011. Although originally self-released, the album was re-released by Fat Possum Records in 2012. Caveman performed at SXSW 2013 and Sasquatch Festival 2013. The band's musical style is a mixture of indie rock and indie pop. Caveman also performed at the latest Bonnaroo 2014 Arts and Music Festival. The video for the song "In the City" features actress Julia Stiles.

After three years between albums, Caveman return with a new label (the first rock outfit to sign with hip-hop label Cinematic Music Group) and a new attitude on their third full-length, Otero War. The Brooklyn quintet still use atmospheric synths and a layered approach to their warm indie rock, but emerge from the wallowing haze of 2013's Caveman with crisper, more assertive production. Right from track one, the propulsive "Never Going Back" delivers melodic hooks and more pronounced drums, encouraging toes to tap.

It’s familiar terrain for the band, but the execution of Otero War makes it their most elaborate and refined release to date. Singer Matthew Iwanusa floats though a fog of vintage keyboards and pizzicato strings on The State of Mind, as well as the glowing mid-tempo haze of Believe. When the tempos quicken, as on highlights like On My Own or Lean on You, Caveman packs a visceral punch.
