Placído Domingo has been at home on the world’s stages for over half a century. Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Verdi, Puccini, and many others composed operas specifically for La Scala, and most of the world’s greatest singers and conductors have performed there. Plácido Domingo made his La Scala debut at the age of twenty-eight, in Verdi’s Ernani, on December 7, 1969 – opening night of the ensemble’s 1969-1970 season – and he recalled, in My First Forty Years: I had already sung at the Met, the Vienna State Opera, and other great theaters.

Plácido Domingo has made hundreds of opera performances, music albums, and concert recordings throughout his career as an operatic tenor.
