Patti LaBelle is the debut solo album by singer Patti LaBelle, released in 1977. The first album LaBelle recorded after sixteen years fronting the band Labelle (formerly Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles), it is notable for the dance hit, "Joy to Have Your Love", the classic gospel-inspiring ballad, "You Are My Friend" and the Angelo "Funky Knuckles" Nocentelli mid-tempo number, "I Think About You".

Patti LaBelle (born Patricia Louise Holte; May 24, 1944) is an American singer, actress, and entrepreneur. LaBelle began her career in the early 1960s as lead singer and front woman of the vocal group, Patti LaBelle and the Bluebelles. Following the group's name change to Labelle in the early 1970s, they released the iconic disco song "Lady Marmalade" and the group later became the first African-American vocal group to land the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.

But Patti LaBelle still had what it took to deliver a worthwhile live performance, even if many of her studio albums sounded stiff, contrived and unspontaneous. Recorded live at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom in 1998, this two-CD set isn't perfect, but it has a lot more to offer than many of the by-the-book studio recordings she'd been making. Though some of the adult contemporary-type material isn't very exciting, Patti makes some sparks fly on inspired performances of "New Attitude," "If You Only Knew" and "You Are My Friend.
