Paradise Lost is the seventh studio album by progressive metal band Symphony X, released on June 26, 2007 through Inside Out Music. It is a concept album loosely inspired by John Milton's 1667 epic poem Paradise Lost. The album was the band's first to chart on the . Billboard 200, reaching No. 123 and remaining on that chart for a week, as well as reaching No. 1 on Billboard's Heatseekers and the top 100 in five other countries.

Symphony X's seventh studio album, 'Paradise Lost', is, simply put, heavy. The majestic sounds of their earlier releases are gone, and the more orchestral feel of their previous two albums have dwindled. Now, in their place, is an all-out assault of the heaviest, beefiest, and arguably some of the most aggressive music you'll ever hear. Overall, this is certainly not Symphony X's best album, but it's a natural change of direction for the band, and one which should help them appeal to a broader metal audience. And you'd sure-as-hell better be a metal fan if you're going to listen to this! Responder Notifique-me Helpful.

Five years after the release of their critically acclaimed Odyssey, New Jersey prog metal quintet Symphony X have taken as their inspiration John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost as a follow-up. The poem, about the fall from grace of Adam and Eve and the rise of Satan's presence as prince of the world, seems like a fitting theme for a heavy metal album, but it's an ambitious one and for a lesser act, would prove to be impossibly daunting.

Paradise Lost Lyrics. In the cold misty morning Gleaming rays awake the dawn Here I stand - a stranger in this land Does your conscience betray you? Falling from grace - feel the Sun on my face Does desire still hold true?

Essentially, Paradise Lost does not introduce changes to Symphony X's tried, tested, and true formula. Though the songs are a lot heavier and darker than they've ever been, they still retain the mystical atmosphere which has always been a staple in their sound. But back to the heaviness. If one element had ever been more stressed on the band's seventh album, it would be the aggression and pure heaviness which it displays. Luckily, for the most part Symphony X does not really fall into this trap, with a good portion of their hour long album sounding inspired and interesting. But where does this new found heaviness come from" Throughout Paradise Lost the centrepiece of the experience is the band's lone guitarist, Michael Romeo. In addition to his lead work, Romeo steps up his rhythm work as well.
