Les Misérables (French pronunciation: ) is a French historical novel by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862, that is considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. In the English-speaking world, the novel is usually referred to by its original French title. However, several alternatives have been used, including The Miserables, The Wretched, The Miserable Ones, The Poor Ones, The Wretched Poor, The Victims and The Dispossessed.

The 2010 Cast Recording was recorded live at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. The recording was released to commemorate 25 years of Les Misérables in English. This recording featured new arrangements and re-inspired orchestrations which were first introduced in 2006. It was recorded on December 12, 2009. John Owen-Jones as Valjean. Earl Carpenter as Javert. Madalena Alberto as Fantine. Laura Tebutt as the Factory Girl. Samara Clarke as Little Cosette. Lynne Wilmot as Mme. Thénardier.

Les Miserables 10th Anniversary Concert. Les Miserables Complete Symphonic Recording. The film version brought back the original feeling of the story and music, but because the cast was chosen for star power rather than singing ability, there were problems with the album.

Of course, Les Misérables did not disappear after its run at the Palais des Sports. Nevertheless, anyone coming to this original French studio cast recording of Les Misérables only after experiencing the English version will be able to recognize much of it, and even to sing "I Dreamed a Dream" during "J'Avais Rêvé d'une Autre Vie" and "Master of the House" during "La Devise du Cabaretier.
