Music for Films is the seventh solo studio album by British musician Brian Eno. It is a conceptual work intended as a soundtrack for imaginary films, although many of the pieces had already appeared in actual films.
Music for Films III is the third entry in Brian Eno's "Music for Films" series. It features tracks by Brian Eno, Roger Eno, Michael Brook, and Harold Budd among others. Three different versions of this album exist.
Brian Eno. Thursday Afternoon. Music for Films is a collection of sparse, moody setpieces whose connections to actual films vary widely. Although more active and more heavily orchestrated than Eno's ambient compositions, its 18 tracks waft in and out in similarly unceremonious fashion. Some, such as "Inland Sea" and the "Sparrowful" trilogy, recall the fat-bodied analog keyboards of Discreet Music; others, like the percussive drone-piece "M386", counteract the melodic lulls with hammering nervous tension.
