Caskets Open – Voodoo. Do you have a plan to rework some ideas from To Serve the Collapse or did you reach the optimal sound on this record? Timo: I think that every album we make is its own journey and it steals some part of your mind. You end up empty-headed after the work is done. In a couple of years time you vomit every lyric and riff that’s inside you and after that you don’t want to go back. It’s a picture of that exact time period and after that you look forward  . The song Subwoman from your previous album To Serve the Collapse is based on Teuvo Tulio’s classic movie Sensuela. Why did you choose this topic for Caskets Open? Timo: I saw the movie once and I thought it was hysterical.

Caskets Open have already established a quite intriguing sound with their debut But You Rule by fusing the crushing, slow traditional doom tempos of Reverend Bizarre and the punk/thrash/doom sensibilities of Carnivore and early Type O Negative. This time they have returned with the aforementioned dynamics only with more rage and a more grinding heavier production. They've also re-recorded a few tracks from two of their recent demos. I think it's not too far when Caskets Open will reach their full potential and produce something truly overpowering. Maybe they will achieve it with their next offering. I'd be looking forward to that.

Finland's Caskets Open, formed in 2007, have an idea or two up their sleeves on how to make tasty traditional Doom Metal that respects the original recipe of a couple of decades ago. On the band's second album, To Serve the Collapse, they mix the Doom of Saint Vitus and Reverend Bizarre with some Punk ingredients from bands like Type O Negative and Carnivore with good results (listen to "Humanist" or the ending of "Mayhem").
