Lady Sings the Blues is an album by American jazz vocalist Billie Holiday released in December 1956. It was Holiday's last album released on Clef Records; the following year, the label would be absorbed by Verve Records. Lady Sings the Blues was taken from sessions taped during 1954 and 1956. It was released simultaneously with her ghostwritten autobiography of the same name.

When Sony/Columbia began its ambitious Legacy reissue project, those who followed their jazz titles knew it was only a question of time before the massive Billie Holiday catalog under their ownership would see the light in its entirety. The answer lies in this lavishly designed ten-CD package that looks on the outside like a 78 album sleeve with a tucked book of notes, track annotations, and rare photographs, and a deck of wondrously remastered CDs that are sequenced in such a way that the entire Columbia story is told in a way that not only makes sense, but is compelling.

The 'Lady Day' tribute contains music made up of Billie Holiday cover songs, tribute tracks and instrumentals that sample tracks from Holiday's discography. Styles range from Dusty, Boom Bap, Jazz Ballad, Electronic, Trip Hop, Jazzhop and Experimental. Much love to all who participated in this project including those who couldn't finish in time. Rebecca Hosking I LOVE Billie Holiday's music, but I appreciate how this album doesn't just remix her recordings a la Verve Remixed (although it does a bit), but also takes her as an inspiration for some new compositions that still invoke her spirit.
